This is one of the walks in the book 'Exploring the Elizabeth Line' by Jeff Lock and is a walk between Iver and West Drayton stations. Parts of it follow the route of section 11 of the London Loop but a lot of it is new to me. If follows the Slough arm of the Grand Union, River Colne and more of the Grand Union back to West Drayton. An enjoyable four miles of largely easy walking,

I arrived at Iver station around 11am then made my way up to the Slough arm. The first part was pleasant but then there was a lengthy stretch along a busy road.

Reaching the canal I first went under that busy road then under an even busier road, the M25. But that was soon behind me.

A nice and fairly quiet walk along the Slough arm, eventually reaching a pill box, very graffitied.

The canal crosses the river Colne with a aqueduct. Then at a bridge it joins up with the London Loop. The bridge is crossed and the canal is left.

A pleasant woodland path. Some guides suggest this used to be a light railway but I could find very little information. At the end of this is Little Britain lake.

The lake is left and the route now follows the River Colne for a while. Fairly overgrown with vegetation to hack through but at least it was dry.

A lovely cascade of water at a weir. Then at a road there is a somewhat dilapidated set of steps. Here the London Loop leaves and I carried on along the busy road for a short while to reach the Grand Union itself.

At this point I broke for lunch at the Malt Shovel. After lunch I continued on the canal passing the nearby Cowley Lock.

After the lock a pleasant stretch of canal with many berthed boats.

One of the bridges then the Waters Edge and Packet Boat Marina on the opposite bank.

Another bridge, and here I rejoined the London Loop for the stretch down to West Drayton. New flats appear on the other bank.

The old brick Trout Road bridge then shortly afterwards a very new bridge where I leave the canal and head for West Drayton station and the end of my walk.
