This is one of the walks in the book 'Exploring the Elizabeth Line' by Jeff Lock and is a walk between Farrigdon and Whitechapel stations exploring London with a walk along the south bank. Most quite familiar territory but the stretch through Whitechapel was new.

The walk starts at Farringdon Elizabeth line station and the busy surrounding streets.

Through Smithfield market and its Grand Avenue.

The church of St Bartholomew the Great, one of London's oldest churches which has survived the Great Fire and both wars without being damaged. The main entrance through the tudor gatehouse though was closed with workmen doing repairs.

Down to St Paul's and into Postman's Park, named for its popularity with postal workers.

The Memorial to Heroic Self Sacrifice and then the rather small St Botolph's church.

Into Paternoster Square and then around St Paul's.

The classic view of St Paul's from Peter's Hill then across the Millennium bridge to the south bank.

Down to the South Bank which seemed busy as normal. Here passing Horniman's by London Bridge station I decided to break for lunch.

HMS Belfast and the Tower of London looking splendid today.

As was the Tower of London. Over Tower Bridge, the blue line shows various people who were involved with its design.

St Katherine's Dock. Then I had to make a deviation from the route as one of the bridges was not just closed but actually removed.

More St Katherine's Dock, Hermitage Basin then King Edward Memorial Park.

Spirit Quay which stretches for some way until reaching Tobacco Dock with two large ships in the dry dock. Here I turned away from the Quay.

St George's Garden with the St George-in-the-East. At the exit a memorial remembering the Battle of Cable Street in October 1936.

The route now passes by Watney Market before reaching Whitechapel Road and the station where I ended my walk.
