This is one of the walks in the book 'Exploring the Elizabeth Line' by Jeff Lock. It goes through Mayfair then through Green Park and Hyde Park before ending at Paddington. Most of this very familiar ground that I have walked before.
Starting at Bond Street station the walk heads towards Grovenor Square when I hit my first problem. Grovenor Square is fenced off for the next year for major redevelopment. Walking around the square on the road I soon find my second problem at the junction with Mount Street where there are works and I have to dodge round the closed pavements.
Then into the rather nice Mount Street Gardens. I popped inside the catholic church here which is quite splendid.
Out of the gardens and the Silence fountain. Then through Berkeley Square Gardens.
Exiting here I faced more development, the book suggesting I used the zebra crossing but then there would be no pavement so I had to negotiate round more works. The route heads to Piccadilly and reaches Green Park by the tube station.
Through Green Park towards Marble Arch.
The Bomber Command memorial and then the Wellington Arch.
Into Hyde Park and through the Rose Garden.
The Diana the Huntress statue and fountain. Then along to the Serpentine.
Ducks and swans showing off their plumage to the passers by.
The Serenity statue and the Princess Diana Fountain.
The Serpentine Bridge after which I entered Kensington Gardens and the Long Water.
Peter Pan monument and then the Italian Garden and Pump House took me to to the end of Kensington Gardens. It was a short walk from here to Paddington station and the tube back to Waterloo where I lunched before heading back home.
