This is one of the walks in the book 'Exploring the Elizabeth Line' by Jeff Lock. On familiar ground it follows the Regents Canal between Little Venice and Kings Cross/St Pancras with a visit to Regents Park on the way.
The walk starts outside Paddington Station and leaving the bustle of that behind soon reaches the Paddington arm of the Grand Union canal.
After a short walk along there and under the A40 Little Venice is reached, always an idyllic spot.
Then onto the Regents Canal. But after just a short walk one has to leave the canal as a section is used for private mooring.
The canal now goes into the Maida Hill tunnel so another stretch of road walking is needed. Then a short path of the towpath is closed and a short diversion is needed to get back onto the canal towpath again.
Looking back where the canal emerges again from the Maida Hill tunnel then along the canal proper.
There are some very splendid houses on the opposite bank and behind fencing on my side.
Now a diversion around Regents Park and its large boating lake. The Park is quite busy and here is one of several cafes.
Through Queen Mary's Gardens which is now showing autumn colours. Broad Walk takes me up towards the exit with an area fenced off and being prepared for the Frieze arts fair.
The Readymoney drinking fountain. Then the walk leaves the park and rejoins the canal at the Feng Shang floating Chinese restaurant.
London Waterbus doing tours on the canal. Then Pirates Castle.
Camden Lock where I stopped for lunch.
The bustle of Camden Market.
More views of the canal as I approach St Pancras.
Former gasholders now converted into luxury flats and another view of the canal.
Coal Drops Yard followed by Granary Square, now a shopping area after a recent rebuild. Across the canal for a final time.
A pleasant pedestrianised area leads down to Kings Cross and St Pancras where my walk ended.
