This is one of the walks in the book 'Exploring the Elizabeth Line' by Jeff Lock. It goes from Stratford then along the canals and Victoria Park before ending at Canary Wharf. Most of this again on very familiar ground but quite a few new bits.

After a good journey up to London and then onto Stratford on the Jubilee Line I misread the instructions and wrongly came out of the south entrance so had the pleasure of seeing Robert the steam train, rather worse for wear these days. Then over the large bridge to the other side where I should have started the walk by the entrance to the Westfield Centre.

Along the elevated walkway and towards the Olympic Park with all its attractions. The wide bridge took me across Waterworks River.

The Olympic Park seems to have rivers and canals everywhere. The Olympic Stadium and ArcelorMittal Orbit dominate the scene but the Orbit looked very quiet so maybe the attraction has worn off.

Leaving the park on a series of paths I reached City Mill river which led down to Carpenters Road lock.

Now along the Old River Lea towards Old Ford lock.

Old Ford lock where I reached the Lea Navigation.

Leaving the Lea Navigation I followed the Hertford Union canal for a short while until entering Victoria Park at Top lock.

After the pleasant first section of the park with its avenues of oak trees the walk crosses the road into the second section with its large lake, pagoda and fountain.

Also some odd shaped sculptures. I now left the park to join the Regents Canal.

A couple of locks on the canal.

The lower section of the canal widens and there are a number of modern bridges.

The canal ends at Limehouse Basin where it joins the Thames. I walked around part of the basin over several bridges.

Ropemakers Field, a recently created park which offers solace to the east of the basin.

A short walk along the Thames to Canary Wharf pier then up to Canary Wharf and Westferry Circus.

Westferry Circus, a small park. The directions were written to take me to the Elizabeth line station but I found them blocked by major building works so instead I followed the signs to the Jubilee line station, back to Waterloo for lunch then home.
