This series of walks for 2026 is from the book Beyond the End of the Line by Jeff Lock. Each walk starts at the terminus station of London's eight underground lines. This one is a circular walk through Trent Country Park starting at Cockfosters station, The first half follows London Loop section 17 so some of it was familiar.

The walk starts from Cockfosters where after a long trek from Waterloo I arrived around 11am. Very quickly into the country and rural for the rest of the day.

First alongside the cemetery then into lovely woodland and Church Wood.

At the main Trent Country Park entrance the smaller of two obelisks dedicated to the Duke and Duchess of Kent. Then the park cafe. I got a bit disorientated here as the London Loop signs were missing and went the wrong side of the cafe.

Now onto the London Loop proper and a long ride in Oak Wood passing a small lake.

Into the open and a large meadow on my left.

Another lake and a distant view of the main obelisk that I would reach later.

Back into the woods again a steepish climb where at the top I said farewell to the London Loop.

The Sassoon Obelisk And Trent Park House down the hill in the distance.

The return journey goes through more woodland then crosses the large meadow to pick up the route back to the station.

A diversion to see the Water Garden with Trent Park House across it

Then back to the smaller obelisk and out of the park at the main gates, a walk back to the station and Waterloo where I lunched at the Wetherspoons.
